The fear of flunking is one of the many techniques a student can use to pass a class; this only depends on the person though. I believe that all students have a nightmare of failing a class. This pushes them to actually pursue in the academic. There are some students who simply do their best to reach their full potential, there are other students who fear failing and that is what unfortunately motivates them. Sherry?s son passed his English class because he feared of failing and being held back in high school. It seems kind of sad though that the only way this student was motivated to learn was by his own fears. Although it can be successful, this is not the only technique that can be successful for students.

Most students who excel in classes, take classes they show interest in. Because of the interest, it keeps them attracted to the particular subject. High school may seem as little resort as to picking classes, but in college, there is so many choices that it overwhelms the student. College students should take advantage of this.

In high school, I picked a science elective in my senior year called physiology. I took this class because I was eager to learn about the human anatomy, and I wanted to dissect animals. I did well in this class because I showed great interest in it even though it was very challenging. My interest and curiosity motivated me, and it was not the fear of failing at all. Taking a class that interested me, lead me to believe that I can do well in this class and it greatly boosted my confidence. The fear of failing had nothing to do with it, and I didn?t even worry about it.

I believe that this technique is very useful and productive. It reminds students that school isn?t about just passing or failing, it is about learning something you want to learn because you choose and have more control of it. The fear of failing is definitely a sad way to motivate students in school, and most people can?t help but fear. However, students have the ability to think differently and use other techniques of passing a class.
